Myths, Facts and Tips About Notebook Battery
The battery has become a part of life in modern times. The need for power while mobile.

What You Often Listen

Myth: Charge 8 Hours for new units.

Fact: It is indeed necessary for NiCd-based battery type because, in NiCd batteries, the electrolytes in it will be assembled below (at the bottom) due to gravity effect, during storage. That's why when buying a new NiCd battery, it is advisable to charge at least for 8 hours (optimally 16 - 24 hours) before first use. Medium Lithium-based batteries that you must pay attention to is, never keep it in a long time when the battery capacity is critical or empty. Because of long periods of unused use, cells in Lithium-Ion type batteries will be permanently damaged if they are discharged below the minimum voltage. That's why, if you notice when buying new electronics, usually, the battery when first activated is still left 30-40%

Myth: We recommend that the battery in charge when the capacity is almost gone.

Fact: It only occurs on NiCd-based batteries (Nickel-cadmium). Because this material is believed to form a memory which, if not eliminated, can cause you to lose battery capacity. Being on Lithium-ion, the charging process at any capacity percentage will not make you lose the capacity suddenly.

Myth: Remove the Battery If the Notebook is worn for long

Fact: Heat is the main enemy of the battery. Hot heat from the notebook components around the battery or often you put the battery in the car hit by direct sunlight can accelerate the age of the cell in the battery.

Removing the battery does reduce the impact of heat attacked battery components, but consequently, the flow from the adapter will go directly to the regulator of your notebook. It does not matter if the adapter is in a fit state, but over time, the adapter also decreases efficiency. So you should sacrifice battery from getting components in your notebook short-lived. After all the calculation, battery price is cheaper than you replace your notebook motherboard. The use of a good Notebook cooler is the best solution for directing heat away from components away from the battery.

Lithium Polymer

This type of battery is widely used in mobile phones and electronic devices that require minimal power. But as the power-saving processor technology, notebook (ultrabook example) has been adopted Lithium Polymer battery. The advantages of lithium-ion polymer Li-ion are its lower "potential" manufacturing costs and adaptability with flexibility for various forms of packaging. Lithium-ion polymer batteries began to appear in consumer electronics around 1995. No wonder if this type of battery can be designed super thin.

It is definitely Damaged

In Lithium-Ion type batteries, the charging process will form a deposit in the electrolyte which over time will inhibit ion transport. Over time, cell capacity decreases. Increased internal resistance will reduce the ability of cells to deliver current. This problem will accumulate faster when charging with a current that is greater than the required battery specifications. This decrease means that battery that has long been used will not charge as much as new (the required charging time is proportionally reduced).

NiCd based batteries are more difficult to break than other batteries, it tolerates discharge for a long time. Therefore Ni-Cd batteries are always emptied when stored in the long run. This is very different when compared to lithium-ion batteries, which are less stable and will be permanently damaged if emptied below the minimum voltage to be stored for a long time.

Tips

Routine Charge Battery In Short Interval

As described above, Lithium-ion type batteries do not recognize the phenomenon of "memory effect" as well as NiCd batteries. Even the results show that batteries are accustomed to the charge when the capacity is still 50% - 75% age 4 - 5 times longer than the battery is often in-charge when the capacity is low.

Keep Temperatures Around Battery

To reduce the effect of heat attack directly, make sure there is space between notebook and your work table. If possible, make your notebook rear leg height. Another solution, use a good Cooler notebook. FYI, notebook Cooler that forms the notebook stand, has been widely circulated in the market.

Do Not Jump Close LCD

When the notebook is still hot after use, let first heat dissipation process at least 2 minutes before you enter the soft case or bag. The heat is still attached to the component and does not experience good heat dissipation, contributing the percentage of the cause of the battery age is reduced rapidly.
